The shortest distance between two people is a story.

- Patti Digh, Four-Word Self-Help: Simple Wisdom for Complex Lives

Deniz and Michael discovered their passion for life, each other, and creative expression over coffee at Waffle House. They enjoy working together and learning new skills and techniques while meeting people and making beautiful things. Their skills, interests, and backgrounds meld together seamlessly to create a dynamic and resourceful team in all areas of their lives. While they love to travel, their dream is to eventually stop running at full speed and enjoy life holding hands on their front porch swing.

Deniz Glassberg (the Art)

Deniz is originally from Atlanta, GA where she attended the Heiskell School and the Westminster Schools when she didn't have her nose buried in a book. She grew up as the only child of two doctors which inspired her to avoid the medical profession as diligently as she could. With both of her parents originally from Turkey, Deniz spent her childhood going back and forth between Atlanta and Istanbul. Her favorite childhood memories take her back to Mediterranean beaches where laughter and sunsets inspired her love of colors, movement, and textures. Her name even means ocean in Turkish!

Deniz’ college journeys took her to George Washington University in our nation's capital then back home to Atlanta to Emory University where she studied Anthropology. She graduated from Oglethorpe University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Language, Literature & Culture. After a twenty-five year hiatus from formal education, she is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in American Media and Popular Culture.

Her career path took her down many roads including ice cream, catering and wedding planning and owning a jewelry store. She also spent close to a decade at PeopleSoft, Inc. as a Human Resources Curriculum Developer and Senior Instructor. Deniz’ favorite job is her family including her husband, Michael, their eight children, a dozen grandchildren, two dogs, four cats, two ferrets, a parakeet, a bearded dragon, and a bunch of fish.

The common thread through these experiences is a passion for self-expression, originality, and imagination. She shared her creativity with her children and their friends by facilitating hand-made children’s quilts and wrote obsessively whenever she could. Deniz has dabbled in pottery, mosaic, fabric painting, soap and candle making, jewelry making, and scrapbooking. She loves to help her partner-in-craft, Michael, pursue his passions: woodworking, metalworking (his windchimes are amazing), and renovation. Their unique log home is a testament to their connection and artistic vision.
